AUCHI – Auchi Polytechnic
Matriculation ceremony was held on the 29TH day of January, 2016.
The matriculation commence at 10:00am, as the Rector of the Polytechnic
and other members of the staffs matched to their various seats.
The opening prayer was done by the Dean of the School of Evening
Studies, as the Registrar Mrs. M.I. AZEMHOKHA called on the Rector to give her
speech.
The Rector Mrs. Philipa Omomeh Idogho expressed her gratitude to all
members of the Staffs and Parents for their support and co-operation for the
2016 Matriculation Ceremony.
She urged the Students to make the best use of the opportunity they
have gotten to the Polytechnic. The Polytechnic into which they have been
formerly indebted today is governed by the rules and regulations which every student
are expected to be conversant with. This rules and regulations operates in the
school are contained in the new prospectus, and the 2016 Edition of the
prospectus is presently print, and as soon as it is ready, each student will
receive his/her own copy through their head of the department. (H.O.D).
She said,
“The rules guiding
all the students are disciplined, attend 75% lectures before they are qualified
to write Examinations, meet prescribed minimum entry requirements which is five
(5) Credits at one sitting in the School Certificate Examination”.
The regulation also prescribed that every student must register as
student of the Polytechnic, within a stipulated period, as students who fail to
register can have their admission withdrawn.
Speaking at the house, she said,
“It has been observed
that students are caught presenting fake credentials certificate for the
purpose of gaining admission. It is forbidden in the institution as the Polytechnic
has verification mechanisms for ensuring that students with fake credentials
are detected. Knowing, that when caught, they sanction the repacaution for
presentation of fake credentials and rustication for Examination
mal-practices”.
Managements receives an Official reports of cases of blocking and
harassment of students to meet certain a man staff, speaking on the issue, she
adviced every student to be courageous to reports cases of harassment to their
Head of Department (H.O.D) or Deans of Students Affairs or to the Director of
services or even to their parents who will alert managements for appropriate
action.
The Polytechnic is determined to make the learning environments
conducive for every student, so as to optimize their time of learning. She
said,
“The Library
facilities have been improved with the recent completion of the two place fashion,
internet facilities have been provided to the library, complete with the
standby generator”.
Managements have been established and practiced of the cottage Hospital
in the Philipa Idogho Campus to provide necessary first aid and other health
ailments for students as class-rooms facilities in the Polytechnic have been
considerably improved upon.
The Polytechnic is also building a Library annex at the Philipa Idogho
Campus and has recently, completed laboratories and workshop, and the bakery of
food science and technology department. The workshop, for the centre for
Enterprenuer Development has been completed while workshops of an offices for
Chemical Engineering Departments and 12 class-rooms have a block of 432
officies for Staffs is also nearly completion.
There is need to emphasis that Education is now going the way of event,
the Polytechnic has four events centres: the Sputnik centre and two units
donated by Mister at the M.I.S. building and CEDAP. She adviced that, students
should begin to imbibe the correct use of computers for learning, as Staffs
have also been encourage to be computer literate.
The Unesco Nigeria TVE Project has developed instructional materials in
seven discipline that can be downloaded, are available in Building Technology,
Computer Science, Quantity Survey, Civil Engineering Technology, Science
Laboratory Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology. She urged every

A distinguished friend of the Polytechnic, CHIEF ABU INU UMORU has instituted an annual Scholarship in, for
the best graduating Student in Engineering to do a Master Degree Program in
America University Lebanon. This is a great challenge to all HND Engineering
Students to work hard. Chief Inu Umoru has also announced the donation of a
block of six class-rooms to the school of Engineering Technology. She said.
Because of the better incident at the main gate, management now
appealed to the Federal Government for the construction of the cadastral bridge
across Benin Abuja High Way. The Bridge has now been completed, commissioned
and put to use. she appealed to all student to take full advantage of the
provision of the bridge by using it for the sack of their safety. She adviced,
every student to be very careful of the company they keep, the clubs and
societies.
The Students Affairs Division has a list of approved, she adviced them
to double check with the Students Affairs Division before signing into
membership in any association. It is in the student interest to do so.
It has been observed that Students now organized morning procession for
deceased Colleagues outside the Polytechnic Premises. It is forbidden to
organize any such activities without express permission from the School
Authority. Every Students programs must be held within the school premises.
She said,
“This year, we
are matriculating twelve thousand (12,000) Students out of thousands of
candidates that participated in an admission screening exercise”.
In this, she urged the students to take good advantage of this
privilege of admission by working seriously to attain their goals and ambitious
on their paths, as they will do all they need to do, to make you men and women
of character and distinction.
Conclusively, The Rector congratulates every student for their
admission into the Polytechnic, and wishes them a fruitful academic career.
The Dean of each department ordered their students to stand up as they
take their Oath, after which, they were all welcome and congratulated into the
school.
On behalf of Ministry of Education, the Rector Mrs. Philipa Omomeh
Idogho was awarded for her hard working and co-operation in making the school
the best and successful in Nigeria. And all the students were asked to stand up
as they celebrate the Rector of the Polytechnic.
